Turkish Ambassador to Kuwait Tuba Nur Sönmez

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 30: Turkish Ambassador to Kuwait Tuba Nur Sönmez said the fraternal relations between Turkiye and Kuwait have been further strengthened under the wise leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, affirming that these relations are moving towards new horizons in all fields. Sönmez made the statement at the celebration of the 102nd anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic of Turkiye, organized by the Turkish Embassy at the Grand Hyatt Hotel recently. Minister of Health Ahmed Al-Awadhi, Deputy Commander of the Turkish Gendarmerie Major General Hüseyin Kurtoğlu, and several diplomatic corps members attended the event. She pointed out that “Kuwait’s swift and sincere support following the devastating earthquakes that struck Turkiye was a profound gesture of solidarity. We will never forget the kindness, generosity, and compassion it showed us. This gesture is etched in our collective memory as a symbol of true brotherhood.”

She confirmed that Turkiye and Kuwait maintain identical principled positions on vital regional issues, particularly Palestine and Syria, guided by shared sensitivities and a commitment to justice. She added that in these challenging times, cooperation between the two countries is more important than ever, and the ongoing dialogue between the leaders of both nations is a valuable contribution to regional peace and humanitarian efforts. She stressed that the Turkish Embassy in Kuwait remains committed to strengthening these close ties between the two countries through joint initiatives and projects that bring mutual benefit to both nations.

She emphasized that the two countries have demonstrated solidarity and cooperation during difficult times, reflecting the depth of the historical relations between them. After her speech, a special video message from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan was shown on the occasion of the National Day. He expressed his pride in the achievements of Turkiye for more than a century, and the active role of Turkish communities around the world in representing their country in an honorable manner. Sönmez presented a commemorative gift to the guest of honor, Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, as an expression of appreciation and gratitude for attending the celebration, and then they both proceeded to the National Day cake-cutting ceremony amidst a festive atmosphere filled with joy and pride

Ghoneim and briefed them on the shooting ranges, the simulation training field, the sniper field, and the (91) mechanized infantry battalion, it noted. This visit comes within the framework of strengthening cooperation and exchanging expertise between the Kuwaiti National Guard and the Turkish Gendarmerie Forces, which contributes to developing the fields of training and joint field work, it added.
