KUWAIT CITY, Jun 2: The Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Kuwait participated in the recycling event organized within the framework of the Healthy City Project on June 1, 2026, in cooperation with the Asimah Governorate of Kuwait and Dahiyat Abdullah Al Salem, with the aim of promoting environmental awareness and fostering a culture of sustainable living.
The event focused on the collection and recycling of used household oil, glass bottles, cardboard and paper, plastic waste, used clothes, and electronic waste. The Embassy contributed to this environmental awareness initiative both institutionally and individually. In addition to Embassy personnel, Kuwaiti volunteers actively joined the effort at the designated recycling point.
Citizens demonstrated meaningful unity for an environmentally friendly future by delivering recyclable materials to the authorities at the waste collection area established within the event site.
During the event, Türkiye’s Ambassador to Kuwait H.E. Tuba Nur Sönmez briefed participants on the Zero Waste Project, which was initiated under the auspices of First Lady H.E. Emine Erdoğan and is being successfully implemented across Türkiye, while also outlining Turkiye's broader environmental policies. It was emphasized that the Embassy has adopted the necessary practices in line with this project and continues to act with institutional sensitivity regarding zero waste.
In recognition of its sustained commitment to environmental responsibility, the Embassy of Türkiye in Kuwait was previously awarded a certificate of achievement for collecting 1.1 tons of recyclable paper in 2025. This distinction reflects the Embassy’s dedication to sustainability and its active role in promoting environmental awareness both within the institution and among the wider community.
