‘Turkey-Kuwait ties reach ideal level’ – Turkish Embassy celebrates 99th Republic Day

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 2: Turkish Ambassador to Kuwait Tuba Nur Sonmez affirmed that the relationship between her country and Kuwait has reached an ideal level, reports Al-Qabas daily. Sonmez made the statement during the celebration organized by the Turkish Embassy recently on the occasion of the National Day and the 99th anniversary of the proclamation of the Republic.

Present at the event were Minister of Justice and Awqaf and State Minister for Integrity Affairs Abdulaziz Al-Majed and a group of diplomats. She expressed happiness over the strong cooperation between Turkiye and Kuwait in tourism, cultural, commercial, economic, educational fields among others; asserting this cooperation is continuously gaining strength. She affirmed that Kuwait is one of the countries sending most of its citizens to Turkiye for tourism, stressing the trade volume between the two countries is on the rise. She added Kuwaitis are among the largest foreign property buyers in Turkiye. “There are still wide cooperation possibilities waiting for us. Therefore, as the new Turkish ambassador, I will try to deepen our relations with Kuwait in all fields. We are also trying to strengthen multi-dimensional cooperation in vital areas; such as the defense industry, technology, aviation, healthcare and education,” she concluded.

The Turkey Embassy in Kuwait hosted a reception to mark the 99th anniversary of the Proclamation of the Republic of Turkey on Sunday at Waldorf Astoria Hotel. Turkish Ambassador to Kuwait Tuba Nur Sonmez started by welcoming the attendees. Expressing pride in Turkish achievements, she said her nation has undergone comprehensive reforms, which transformed it into a democratic and modern nation.

Sonmez hailed the relationship between Turkey and Kuwait under Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and HH the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. She said Turkey’s robust foreign policies ensure peace and development for all the countries of the region. The ambassador praised cooperation with Kuwait in all fields, especially tourism and investment, as scores of Kuwaitis visit Turkey for leisure and to buy real estate. The event was attended by diplomats, journalists, Turkish residents, and other guests.
