ANKARA, Mar 30: Turkey’s Defence Ministry said on Monday that NATO forces intercepted a ballistic missile fired from Iran, marking the fourth such incident since the start of the ongoing Middle East conflict. Authorities confirmed that none of the four projectiles had struck Turkish territory.
In a statement, the ministry said a ballistic munition identified as originating from Iran entered Turkish airspace but was neutralised by NATO air and missile defence systems deployed in the eastern Mediterranean. Turkey, a NATO member that shares a border with Iran, has so far largely avoided the scale of retaliatory strikes seen elsewhere in the region.
