ANKARA, Feb. 25: Turkey is reportedly preparing contingency plans amid concerns over a possible U.S. strike on Iran, according to a Bloomberg report.
The report states that Turkish officials are assessing potential scenarios, including the risk of instability inside Iran that could trigger a refugee influx toward the Turkish border. As part of those deliberations, Ankara is said to be considering measures that could involve entering Iranian territory in the event of a power vacuum to prevent a surge of displaced people.
Turkey has previously faced significant migration flows stemming from regional conflicts and has maintained heightened border security in response to instability in neighboring countries. Officials have not publicly confirmed any final decisions but are reportedly evaluating multiple security options.
The development comes amid rising regional tensions and growing speculation about potential US military action against Iran.
Meanwhile, some commentators have emphasized the importance of respecting Iran’s territorial sovereignty in the event of political change, warning against the establishment of buffer zones or cross-border incursions.
