WASHINGTON, Jul 15: U.S. President Donald Trump warned that American military strikes on Iran would intensify next week, saying power plants and bridges could become targets unless Tehran returns to negotiations over its nuclear program.

In an interview with Fox News aired Tuesday, Trump said the United States would continue striking Iranian targets over the coming days before expanding the campaign.

"Next week comes the power plants. Next week comes the bridges. We're going to knock out all their power plants. We're going to knock out all their bridges unless they get to the table and negotiate," Trump said.

Trump said U.S. officials had recently held talks with Iranian negotiators but accused Tehran of repeatedly violating agreements.

He also claimed Iran's military capabilities had been significantly weakened, while warning the United States could quickly strike additional nuclear facilities if necessary.

Asked whether he would rule out a ground campaign in Iran, Trump said he would not completely dismiss the option, adding that "other people" could carry out ground operations.

Trump also revealed that U.S. forces had struck Iran's Kharg Island three times but deliberately avoided oil facilities to limit the impact on global energy markets.

He added that he had dropped plans to impose a transit fee on cargo passing through the Strait of Hormuz, saying regional countries had instead agreed to make major investments in the United States.

Trump's remarks came as Iranian officials renewed vows of retaliation following recent U.S. strikes. Iran's army pledged a "decisive response" to attacks that killed military personnel, while former Foreign Minister and current lawmaker Manouchehr Mottaki called for a ground assault on a U.S. military base and the capture of American personnel.
