Trump Warns Iran Will Be Held Responsible for Future Houthi Ship Attacks

WASHINGTON, July 23: US President Donald Trump on Thursday warned that Iran would be held responsible if Yemen's Houthi movement carries out any further attacks on commercial shipping, threatening "major military punishment" against both Tehran and the Iran-backed group.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump claimed the Houthis had resumed attacks during the ongoing US-Iran conflict, alleging the group fired at two Saudi ships overnight.

"If they do this again, the US will hold Iran responsible, in that the Houthis are a Surrogate and/or Proxy of Iran," Trump wrote.

He warned that any future attacks on commercial vessels would trigger a strong US response, saying both Iran and the Houthis would face "major military punishment."
