WASHINGTON, July 29: US President Donald Trump said Wednesday that the United States would respond forcefully to an Iranian missile attack targeting American forces in Jordan, warning Tehran that it would face severe retaliation.

Speaking to Fox News, Trump said, "We are going to beat the f--- out of them," adding, "We'll be hitting them hard. They're going to get a beating."

According to Fox News, Trump said the response followed an overnight attack in which Iranian ballistic missiles targeted US forces stationed in Jordan. He said American troops had only minutes to intercept the incoming missiles and that he had personally reviewed footage of the operation.

Trump also described Iran-backed militias as "a cancer on the world" and said overnight US strikes against Iran-backed Iraqi Shi'ite militias had been coordinated with the Iraqi government.

Despite the latest escalation, Trump said diplomatic talks with Iran were continuing, according to the network. The comments come amid heightened regional tensions following a series of military exchanges involving US forces and Iran-backed groups across the Middle East.
