Trump to Ask Netanyahu to Avoid Strike on Iran After Missile Attack

WASHINGTON, Jun 7: U.S. President Donald Trump is expected to urge Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu not to carry out retaliatory strikes against Iran following a recent missile attack, according to a report by Axios.

The report said Trump plans to speak with Netanyahu to press for restraint amid rising regional tensions. In remarks cited by Axios, Trump said the Iranian missiles “didn’t hurt anybody” and expressed hope that Israel would avoid further escalation.

“Hopefully Israel is not going to retaliate,” Trump was quoted as saying. He added that negotiations with Iran are reportedly close to a final agreement, warning that ongoing military exchanges could jeopardize diplomatic efforts. “We are very close to a final deal with Iran. I don’t want it to blow up because of what is happening now,” he said.

The comments come as the region remains on high alert following continued missile exchanges between Iran and Israel and growing international calls for de-escalation.
