Washington, D.C., Apr 23: Just ten days after telling Prime Minister Narendra Modi, "We all love you" in a phone call, President Donald Trump on Thursday shared a post on Truth Social containing racist and derogatory remarks about India and China, citing a letter from right-wing radio host Michael Savage.
In the letter, Savage attacked birthright citizenship, referring to India and China as "hell-holes" and describing Indian and Chinese immigrants as "gangsters with laptops" who have "robbed us blind" and "stepped on our flag."
"They've done more damage to this nation than all the mafia families put together," the letter read. "Gangsters with laptops. They've robbed us blind, treated us like second-class citizens, let the 'turd world' triumph, stepped on our flag."
The post signals Trump's continued focus on ending birthright citizenship, currently being challenged in the Supreme Court case Trump vs. Barbara, where his executive order denying citizenship to children of temporary visa holders or undocumented immigrants faces review.
Trump has warned that a ruling against his order would cost America its "dignity."
The remarks draw a sharp contrast with his earlier outreach to Modi, underscoring the dual nature of his messaging — diplomatic with foreign leaders and combative with his domestic base.
