WASHINGTON / TEHRAN, May 24: U.S. President Donald Trump posted an AI-generated image on Truth Social showing an Iranian Navy vessel being struck by a U.S. drone, accompanied by the caption “Adios,” in a move that comes amid heightened regional tensions and ongoing diplomatic signaling over the Strait of Hormuz.

The post followed earlier remarks in which Trump said a memorandum of understanding for peace had been reached and confirmed that the strategic Strait of Hormuz would be fully reopened under the emerging framework, marking a notable contrast between diplomatic messaging and provocative imagery shared online.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) Navy said 33 vessels transited the Strait of Hormuz over the past 24 hours after receiving official permits. According to the IRGC, the ships—including oil tankers, container ships, and other commercial vessels—were allowed passage through the waterway under coordination and security arrangements provided by its naval forces.

The statement highlighted continued Iranian control and monitoring of maritime traffic through the Strait, one of the world’s most critical shipping lanes for global energy supplies.

In a separate development, a senior Iranian military official said the country’s armed forces remain fully prepared for any renewed military escalation. Habibollah Sayyari, the army’s chief of staff and deputy coordinator, stated that Iran’s command structure remains resilient even in the event of battlefield losses.

“If one commander is killed, another will take his place,” Sayyari said, adding that Iran possesses multiple capable commanders ready to assume operational leadership if required.

The remarks come amid ongoing tensions in the Gulf region, where military posturing, maritime security concerns, and diplomatic negotiations continue to unfold simultaneously.
