WASHINGTON, April 25: U.S. President Donald Trump told Fox News correspondent Aishah Hasnie that he has canceled the planned trip by senior aides Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff to Pakistan, where they were expected to pursue peace talks with Iran. Speaking exclusively, Trump said, “We have all the cards. They can call us anytime they want,” signaling Washington’s firm stance as uncertainty clouds diplomatic efforts.  Trump told Fox News that he told U.S. negotiators Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, “You’re not going to be making any more 18-hour flights to sit around talking about nothing.”

The decision adds further uncertainty to already fragile diplomatic efforts, particularly after Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi departed Islamabad on Saturday following meetings with Pakistani leadership, without any confirmed engagement with U.S. officials.

Iran had earlier indicated that Araghchi had no plans to meet American representatives during his visit, reinforcing doubts over the prospects of direct talks. The cancellation of the U.S. delegation’s trip now deepens questions over whether backchannel or formal negotiations between Washington and Tehran are currently viable.

The developments come amid heightened regional tensions and ongoing international focus on Iran-related negotiations, with Pakistan seen as a potential venue for indirect diplomatic engagement.
