WASHINGTON, Sep 2: US President Donald Trump said Wednesday that the United States was prepared to carry out another attack on Iran, following overnight US strikes targeting Iranian military capabilities.
Trump said Iran had been attempting to rebuild radar and missile systems and develop a rocket capable of dropping mines in the Strait of Hormuz. He said US forces had destroyed newly built equipment in the area, describing the strikes as “very heavy.”
“We’re prepared to do another one any time we want,” Trump told reporters.
Trump also said Iran’s leadership was “getting weaker by the day” but attributed the lack of a broader uprising against the government to the use of deadly force against protesters.
“When I ask that question, I ask it sort of knowing the answer. The only answer is that they’re being shot,” Trump said, referring to his earlier call for Iranians to “rise up and fight.”
Asked whether the CIA would be sent to arm Iranians, Trump declined to comment, saying it would be “inappropriate” to disclose such information.
