WASHINGTON, Aug 9: US President Donald Trump said Sunday that Washington is taking a lower-key approach toward Iran and appears prepared to allow economic pressure to intensify rather than launch another major military offensive, according to Axios.

“We are low keying it,” Trump said in an interview with the outlet, describing the US approach as only “semi-negotiating” with Tehran while closely monitoring Iran’s worsening economic situation. He said Iran was facing severe inflation and financial difficulties, arguing that the country had limited funds to sustain its military forces.

Trump also pointed to the US naval blockade as a factor that has further intensified pressure on Iran’s economy. Despite the continuing confrontation, he suggested that relatively moderate oil prices were limiting the economic impact on American consumers, with crude trading at just above $75 a barrel.

“It will work out. It always works out. It’s like a chess game,” Trump said, signaling that he views the standoff with Iran as a strategic contest rather than an immediate push toward another large-scale military escalation.
