Trump Says US Could Strike Iran as Early as ‘Tomorrow’ or Reach Deal

WASHINGTON, Oct 25 : US President Donald Trump said on Saturday that the United States could launch another military strike against Iran as early as Sunday or reach an agreement with Tehran, leaving open the possibility of renewed hostilities despite an existing ceasefire.

“We’re thinking about doing it, and maybe tomorrow,” Trump told reporters when asked whether he was considering another attack on Iran.

He declined to disclose whether a decision had been made, saying: “Do you really think I’m going to tell you if I’m going to do it?”

Trump said Iran could still avert further US military action by agreeing to a deal, but questioned whether Tehran would honour any agreement reached with Washington.

“They want to make a deal, but the problem is, will they hold the deal?” he said, describing a potential agreement as a “big, beautiful” deal.

The US president said his objective was to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear weapon in the future. He argued that the earlier US operation involving B-2 bombers would not, by itself, guarantee a lasting outcome.

“I’ve got to make it permanent,” Trump said. “That’s the only reason I’m doing it.”

Trump also claimed that oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz had increased compared with levels before the war began, but did not provide figures to support the assertion.

The president did not announce a final decision on the next course of action, indicating that both renewed military operations and negotiations remained possible.

“I may have to finish it off, or maybe they’ll make a deal,” Trump said. “But I’m not sure. Either way, we win.”

The US-Israeli war against Iran, which began in February, triggered a wider regional conflict and remains unresolved despite a ceasefire and an agreement to finalise a peace deal. Trump’s latest remarks indicate that the prospect of further military action remains on the table as Washington weighs negotiations with Tehran.
