Trump Says US Canceled Planned Iran Strike After Deal Framework Reached

WASHINGTON, Aug 2: US President Donald Trump said Saturday that he had canceled a planned military attack on Iran after Tehran and several Middle Eastern countries requested a pause, claiming that the two sides had agreed on the basic framework of a potential deal.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the United States had been "locked and loaded" for military action against Iran at levels of force "not seen since World War II," but agreed to hold off following requests for negotiations.

According to Trump, the proposed framework would include the immediate and complete reopening of the Strait of Hormuz and an end to what he described as Iran's nuclear threat.

"Based on this request, I have agreed, for the future benefit of the world and the survival of a successful and prosperous Iran, to cancel the attack, subject to being able to rapidly make a deal," Trump wrote.

He added that Israel had joined the United States in supporting the pause in military action and urged all parties to move quickly to finalize an agreement.

Iran has not immediately confirmed Trump's claims or publicly commented on the reported framework for a deal. The announcement comes amid heightened regional tensions and concerns over maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital global energy shipping route.
