WASHINGTON, Mar 6: Donald Trump signaled on Friday that negotiations with Iran to end the conflict in the Middle East would not take place unless Tehran agrees to “unconditional surrender.”
In a post on social media, the U.S. president said that only after such a step — and the selection of leadership acceptable to Washington — would the United States and its allies work toward rebuilding Iran’s economy.
“After that, and the selection of a GREAT & ACCEPTABLE Leader(s), we, and many of our wonderful and very brave allies and partners, will work tirelessly to bring Iran back from the brink of destruction, making it economically bigger, better, and stronger than ever before,” Trump wrote.
Trump has repeatedly stated that any future leadership in Iran should be acceptable to the United States. He ended the message with the phrase “MAKE IRAN GREAT AGAIN (MIGA!),” a play on his campaign slogan from the Make America Great Again movement.
Meanwhile, the president is hosting executives from various defense contractors on Friday to push them to expedite the delivery of more American-made weapons. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said Friday that the U.S. military has “more than enough munitions, ammo, and weapons stockpiles” to continue its operations in the Middle East. “Nevertheless, President Trump has always been intensely focused on strengthening our military, which is why this meeting with defense contractors was scheduled weeks ago.”
