WASHINGTON, May 2: Donald Trump declared that “lunatics cannot have a nuclear weapon” as he defended his administration’s stance on Iran, saying the United States is effectively “in a war” and must prevent Tehran from acquiring nuclear capabilities.
In a video posted on Truth Social, Trump said the global situation required decisive action, warning that allowing such weapons in the hands of adversaries would create widespread fear. His remarks were met with cheers from supporters chanting “USA.”
The president also justified recent US actions against Iran, claiming they had significantly weakened the country and were necessary to avert a larger threat. He argued that previous US administrations had failed to confront Iran over the past decades.
“If they had a nuclear weapon, this world would be a horror… it would live in fear,” Trump said, adding that earlier leaders had avoided taking action due to concerns over Iran’s strength.
