WASHINGTON, Apr 14: Donald Trump has said that discussions involving Iran could take place in Pakistan within the next two days, according to remarks reported by the New York Post.

In a phone interview on Tuesday, Trump said, “Something could be happening over the next two days, and we’re more inclined to go there,” suggesting that diplomatic engagement may soon shift to a new venue.

However, earlier comments attributed to him indicated uncertainty over the meeting location. In that earlier interview, he said the United States might not return to Pakistan for future Iran-related talks and noted that another location was being considered.

“Things are happening, but I don’t think it’ll be there that we have our meeting,” he was quoted as saying, adding that “another location” was under consideration.

The remarks come amid ongoing diplomatic efforts involving regional and international stakeholders seeking to address tensions surrounding Iran.

Meanwhile, Indian Prime ‌Minister Narendra Modi and Trump spoke about the need to keep the Strait of Hormuz open during a call, Modi said on the social platform X.  Modi said the two leaders “discussed the situation” in the Middle East and “stressed the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz open and secure.”  The call between Modi and Trump lasted nearly 40 minutes, Indian media reported.
