WASHINGTON, June 13: US President Donald Trump said a nuclear-related agreement with Iran is scheduled to be signed on Sunday, warning of what he called the “ultimate alternative” if negotiations fail, according to a post on Truth Social.
Trump stated that the deal, as he described it, would ensure Iran does not obtain a nuclear weapon “through purchase, development, or any other form of procurement,” calling it a “wall to no nuclear weapon.” He added that the agreement would reportedly lead to the immediate reopening of the Strait of Hormuz.
In his remarks, Trump contrasted the expected arrangement with the 2015 nuclear agreement reached under former US President Barack Obama, saying no financial payments would be involved in the new deal.
He further claimed that the United States would later move to eliminate what he described as “nuclear dust” buried deep underground in Iran, referencing earlier US military strikes involving B-2 bombers.
Trump said he hoped the process would proceed “quickly, easily, and smoothly,” but warned that Washington retains an “ultimate alternative” if the agreement collapses—though he did not elaborate on what that option would entail.
