Trump Says Iran Deal Makes Nuclear Weapon Ban “Loud and Clear” as Iranian Regime Vows Revenge Over Khamenei Killing

WASHINGTON / TEHRAN, Jun 16: US President Donald Trump said Tuesday that the emerging agreement with Iran clearly prevents Tehran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, warning that “all hell will rain down” if Iran’s government attempts to pursue nuclear arms.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France, Trump said the central issue for Washington was ensuring Iran never develops a nuclear weapon.

“The only thing that really matters to me is Iran will never have a nuclear weapon, and it says it loud and clear,” Trump said.

He added that any move by Iran toward acquiring a nuclear weapon would face severe consequences.

Trump says Iran deal entering second stage

Trump said the US-Iran agreement was moving into a second phase, describing the framework as fair while rejecting claims that Washington would provide financial support to Tehran.

“We are not investing any money in Iran,” Trump said in Évian-les-Bains, where G7 leaders were meeting.

The US president said future economic benefits would depend on Iran meeting the conditions outlined in the agreement.

Tehran vows retaliation over Khamenei’s death

Meanwhile, tensions remain high inside Iran following the killing of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in US-Israeli strikes in February, with Iranian officials continuing to demand retaliation.

Abbas Golrou, a member of Iran’s parliament national security and foreign policy committee, said Tehran would not forget the death of the country’s top political and religious leader.

“We will not forget this loss and we will take revenge,” Golrou said, accusing Washington of targeting Iran’s senior political and military leadership.

He described the United States as a “rogue state” and said the killing represented an attack on Iran’s sovereignty.

Deal faces major challenges

The latest comments highlight the deep divisions surrounding the US-Iran agreement. While Washington has emphasized nuclear restrictions and preventing Iran from obtaining atomic weapons, Tehran has continued to focus on sovereignty, sanctions relief, and regional security concerns.

The next phase of negotiations is expected to address difficult issues including Iran’s nuclear program, sanctions removal, and broader regional security arrangements.

Despite diplomatic progress, the statements from both sides show that mistrust remains a major obstacle to a lasting settlement.
