Trump Says Iran Deal Could Be Signed Within Hours, Urges Calm After Beirut Strike

WASHINGTON, June 14: US President Donald Trump said a proposed agreement with Iran could be electronically signed within the next few hours, while urging all sides to avoid actions that could jeopardize efforts to secure a broader regional peace deal.

According to Fox News correspondent Trey Yingst, Trump said the agreement was expected to be signed electronically within two to three hours and indicated that he would ask Tehran not to retaliate following Israel’s recent strike on a Hezbollah target in Beirut.

The comments came shortly after Trump publicly criticized Israel’s attack on Beirut, arguing that it occurred at a sensitive moment when negotiations with Iran were nearing completion.

“This morning’s attack on Beirut should not have happened, particularly on a special day when we are so close to a Peace Deal with Iran,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

While reaffirming Israel’s right to defend itself, Trump described the incident that prompted the Israeli response as minor and said it should not be allowed to derail ongoing diplomatic efforts.

“Israel has the right to defend itself against threats, but the attack it was responding to was very small and meaningless, nobody was hurt, injured, or killed, and should not disrupt this important process,” he said.

Trump emphasized that the proposed agreement could help bring stability to the wider region, including Lebanon, and called for restraint from all parties.

“We are very close to a Deal that will bring peace to the region, including to Lebanon, and all sides should stand down,” he said.

The US president further urged both Israel and Hezbollah to halt military actions, saying there should be no additional attacks by Israel in Lebanon and no further attacks against Israel by Hezbollah or any other group.

“This could be the beginning of a long and beautiful peace — Let’s not blow it!” Trump added.

The remarks underscore Washington’s confidence that a preliminary agreement with Iran remains within reach despite heightened regional tensions following Israel’s strike on a Hezbollah site in Beirut’s southern suburbs.
