Trump Says Iran Deal Could Be Signed in Europe This Weekend

WASHINGTON, Jun 11: US President Donald Trump said Thursday that a deal between Washington and Tehran could be signed as early as this weekend, likely in Europe, adding that the agreement was nearing completion.

Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump said the documents for the proposed accord were in a “pretty final stage” and expressed confidence that a formal signing could take place soon.

“We just made a great settlement of the war with Iran,” Trump said.

He added that Vice President JD Vance would attend the signing ceremony and indicated that discussions with regional leaders were continuing.

“The strait will officially open as soon as we sign, which could be soon, very soon, maybe over the weekend in Europe,” Trump said, referring to maritime routes affected by the conflict.

Trump also revealed that he had spoken with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and planned to speak with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Meanwhile, Al Arabiya reported, citing a senior source, that a Qatari delegation returning from Tehran had delivered Iran’s approval of the final draft of a memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States, signaling further progress toward a possible agreement.

No official details of the proposed deal were immediately released.
