WASHINGTON, Jun 11: US President Donald Trump said he has canceled scheduled American military strikes against Iran that were expected to take place Thursday evening, citing what he described as progress in diplomatic discussions with Tehran’s leadership.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said the decision followed discussions with what he called the “highest level” of Iranian leadership, which he said had been approved by all parties involved.
“Based on the fact that discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran have been brought to the highest level of Iranian leadership and approved, I have, as President of the United States of America, cancelled the scheduled strikes and bombings against Iran this evening,” Trump wrote.
He added that talks had reached advanced stages and were being coordinated with multiple regional and international stakeholders, including Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Turkey, Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, and others.
Trump also claimed that “discussions and final points” had been agreed upon “in both concept and great detail.”
In the same post, the US president said what he described as a “Naval Blockade” would remain in place until a final agreement is concluded, though he did not provide further details.
He added that the timing and location of any formal signing would be announced later.
The claims could not be independently verified at the time of publication, and no official confirmations were immediately issued by the governments mentioned.
