WASHINGTON, Jul 10: US President Donald Trump considers Iran's attacks on three commercial tankers in the Strait of Hormuz earlier this week to be acts of terrorism, CBS News reported, citing a US official.
The official said the 60-day ceasefire agreed to last month was performance-based and that Iran's actions in the tanker attacks represented "failed performance at an unacceptable level."
Despite Trump's remarks on Wednesday that the ceasefire was effectively over, the official said technical-level talks between Washington and Tehran are continuing. The official also reiterated the US position that Iran must not be allowed to obtain a nuclear weapon.
