Trump: Israel and Hezbollah Agree to Halt Attacks, Iran Talks ‘Don’t Matter’

WASHINGTON, Jun 1: U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday that both Israel and Hezbollah had agreed to halt attacks following separate discussions with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and representatives of the Lebanese group.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said he held a “very productive” call with Netanyahu and claimed that no Israeli troops would be sent to Beirut, adding that any forces already en route had been turned back. Trump also said that, through intermediaries, he had spoken with Hezbollah representatives and that both sides agreed to stop all shooting, with Israel refraining from attacking Hezbollah and Hezbollah refraining from attacking Israel.

Separately, Trump said he was unconcerned about reports that negotiations between the United States and Iran may have broken down. In comments to CNBC, he said he did not care whether talks continued, after reports that Iranian negotiators had suspended communications with Washington over Israeli military operations in Lebanon.

Trump also said he planned to ask Netanyahu about developments in Lebanon and dismissed concerns about energy markets following Iranian threats to block the Strait of Hormuz. He predicted oil prices would decline significantly in the near future despite rising regional tensions.
