Trump: 'Iran MOU Not Final, If I Don’t Like the Agreement, We’ll Go Back to Dropping Bombs'

Évian-les-Bains, France, Jun 17: US President Donald Trump said on Wednesday that the memorandum of understanding (MOU) between the United States and Iran does not provide for immediate sanctions relief, stressing that the issue would be addressed at a later stage.

Speaking during a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi on the sidelines of the G7 summit in Évian-les-Bains, Trump emphasized that the agreement remains unfinished and subject to further negotiations.

“The MOU is not final,” Trump said, warning that Washington could resort to military action if the deal fails to meet US expectations. “If I don’t like the agreement, we will go back to dropping bombs,” he stated.

Trump also dismissed reports claiming that the agreement included a $300 billion investment fund for Iran, calling such reports false and insisting that the United States was not committing funds under the proposed arrangement.

According to Trump, the central objective of the agreement is to ensure that Iran never acquires a nuclear weapon. He reiterated that preventing Tehran from developing nuclear arms remains the cornerstone of US policy toward the Islamic Republic.

The US president further expressed optimism about maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most critical energy shipping routes. He said the waterway was already partially open and expected it to be fully reopened within “the next day or two,” a development that could help ease concerns over global oil supplies and regional trade disruptions.

The remarks come amid ongoing scrutiny of the emerging US-Iran agreement, which has generated debate over sanctions, regional security, and the future of Iran's nuclear program.
