Trump Gives Iran 48 Hours to Open Strait of Hormuz

WASHINGTON, April 4: U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday renewed a deadline for Iran to reopen the vital Strait of Hormuz, warning of severe consequences if the demand is not met.

In a post on social media, Trump said Tehran had 48 hours to “make a deal or open up” the waterway, cautioning that “all Hell will reign down” if the ultimatum is ignored. The remarks came as he remained at the White House, with no official comment from his administration on the reported downing of a U.S. fighter jet in Iran.

Earlier this week, Trump had declared that Iran was “completely decimated” militarily and economically, asserting that its radar capabilities had been “100% annihilated.” However, recent developments have raised questions over that assessment.

A U.S. fighter jet was shot down over Iran on Friday, triggering a search-and-rescue mission that led to the recovery of one crew member, while another American aircraft was reportedly hit by Iranian air defenses, according to Iranian state media. The incidents underscore the growing risks and uncertainty surrounding the escalating conflict.
