WASHINGTON, Apr 24: The White House said Donald Trump has extended a waiver of the Jones Act for an additional 90 days, allowing non-U.S. vessels to transport oil and natural gas more freely amid disruptions linked to heightened tensions in the region, including the impact of the Iran-related conflict.
The move follows an initial 60-day waiver issued in mid-March and is aimed at supporting energy supply chains and stabilizing fuel prices after reduced maritime traffic in key routes, including concerns over the Strait of Hormuz.
In a post on social media, a White House press aide said updated data showed that “significantly more supply was able to reach U.S. ports faster” following the initial waiver, contributing to improved logistics and supply flow.
