Trump Draws Negative Global Reviews as Trust in U.S. Reliability Falls

WASHINGTON DC, Jun 24: A new Pew Research Center survey has found widespread negative views of U.S. President Donald Trump across much of the world, alongside declining confidence in the United States as a reliable international partner.

The survey, conducted across 36 countries, found that a median of only 23% of adults expressed confidence in Trump’s handling of world affairs. In many countries, confidence in his leadership has fallen compared with last year.

Overall views of the United States have also weakened. Pew said favorable ratings for the U.S. declined in several countries over the past year, with double-digit drops recorded in Indonesia, Italy, Nigeria, South Africa, South Korea and Turkey.

Only seven countries surveyed had majorities with a favorable view of the U.S. The strongest positive rating came from Israel, where 81% of respondents viewed the U.S. favorably. Some of the lowest ratings were recorded among predominantly Muslim publics, including Malaysia, Pakistan, Turkey, and Palestinians in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
