KUWAIT CITY, June 25: The Ordinary Misdemeanor Circuit at the First Instance Court sentenced three defendants to six months in prison with hard labor and acquitted two others in connection with a public brawl that took place in front of a shopping mall in Sulaibikhat, reports Al-Seyassah daily. The court discovered that the public brawl had happened after a traffic-related dispute between one of the complainants and one of the defendants. The disagreement escalated into a verbal confrontation and then developed into a physical altercation.

According to the results of investigations carried out by the Criminal Investigation Department at the Interior Ministry, as well as evidence obtained from CCTV footage, the three convicted defendants arrived at the location, waited for the complainants to leave the shopping mall, and assaulted them. The investigations and video recordings did not reveal any evidence indicating that the complainants initiated the assault or engaged in an exchange of physical blows. Attorney Abdulmohsen Al-Qattan, who represented one of the defendants, stated that the court’s decision to acquit his client was based on the contents of the case file, results of the investigations of the Criminal Investigation Department and CCTV footage, all of which confirmed that his client was not involved in the brawl.
