WASHINGTON, Sep 16: The US State Department on Tuesday urged Americans to reconsider travel to Saudi Arabia, citing the risk of Iranian drone and missile attacks, armed conflict and terrorism.
The department said the threat of Iranian drone and missile attacks has continued since hostilities between the United States and Iran began on February 28.
According to the advisory, Iran has launched missile and drone attacks targeting Saudi cities, infrastructure, airports, military bases, diplomatic facilities and energy sites. It also warned that Iran-backed Houthi forces have threatened further attacks on Saudi Arabia.
The State Department separately advised Americans not to travel to areas near the Saudi-Yemen border because of the threat of terrorism.
