KUWAIT CITY, Aug 19: The General Directorate of Traffic carried out extensive traffic and security campaigns across Kuwait’s governorates from August 10 to 16, 2026, resulting in the issuance of 33,592 traffic violations and the impoundment of hundreds of vehicles for serious offenses.
The campaigns, conducted by the Traffic and Operations Affairs Sector, were aimed at enhancing road safety, strengthening traffic discipline, regulating violations and ensuring compliance with the law.
Authorities detained 26 individuals in traffic custody and referred eight juveniles to the Juvenile Prosecution to complete the necessary legal procedures. A total of 640 vehicles and eight motorcycles were also impounded for committing serious traffic violations.
The Operations Department dealt with 2,233 traffic reports during the same period. Patrols followed up on 764 collision incidents, including 144 accidents involving injuries. Necessary legal measures were taken, with cases referred to the relevant police stations, while traffic patrols worked to maintain the smooth movement of vehicles.
The campaigns also resulted in the arrest of five individuals suspected of possessing narcotic substances and four individuals found in abnormal conditions. They were referred to the General Department for Combating Drugs for further legal action.
In addition, authorities detained 50 individuals with expired residency permits and 14 people without official identification. Police also apprehended 40 wanted individuals and seized 25 wanted vehicles, transferring them to the competent authorities for the necessary legal procedures.
The General Directorate of Traffic said field campaigns will continue across the country’s governorates as part of efforts to strengthen traffic and security enforcement.
The Directorate called on all motorists to comply with traffic regulations and instructions, stressing that responsible driving and adherence to the law are essential to protecting road users, preventing accidents and safeguarding lives and property
