Kuwait’s General Traffic Department announces strict safety rules for towing vehicles.

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 20: The General Traffic Department has outlined strict conditions for vehicles used for towing, emphasizing safety and legal compliance, officials confirmed.

The department said towing vehicles must meet several requirements, including proper registration, installation of special side mirrors, placement of a warning triangle, lights, and reflective tape, and adherence to driving on the right side of the road. Passengers are prohibited from being inside trailers, and towing equipment must be safe, properly secured, and removed after use. Drivers must also ensure correct weight distribution, use safety chains, and comply with legally specified lengths.

In a related announcement on its “X” platform, the department said technical inspections for taxis have begun at the technical inspection departments in the Capital and Ahmadi governorates. The inspections are being conducted during morning hours, from 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM.

The measures aim to enhance road safety and ensure that vehicles, particularly those used for towing, meet all technical and regulatory standards.
