82 pct of State bodies not interested in online transactions

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 11: The total population of Kuwait as of July 2019 reached 4.82 million – 3.40 million expatriates and 1.42 million Kuwaiti citizens, according to Public Authority for Civil Information (PACI), reports Annahar daily.

Meanwhile, according to a survey conducted by Central Bank of Kuwait, the expenditure of Kuwaiti citizens for tourism purposes has increased by 31.38 percent during the first half of this year.

The total expenditure for tourism overseas in the first half of this year hit KD 2.818 billion of which KD 1.440 billion was spent in the first quarter of the year and KD 1.378 billion in the second quarter.

Also, State institutions’ interest in online completion of transactions is low, as per a recent study by the Cabinet, which revealed that online transactions represent only 19 percent of the total transactions, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The study showed that 82 percent of the State institutions are not interested in adopting online transactions.

It highlighted a number of obstacles facing the enforcement of online transactions including legislative and administrative reasons. The study revealed that the rate of completion of online transactions in Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources is zero percent, one percent in Ministry of Health and Ministry of Interior, and five percent in Ministry of Justice.
