Top players advance as World Padel Championship hits quarterfinal stage

World padel stars visit Al-Mubarakiya.

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 6: The World Padel (Doubles) Championship, running in Kuwait until November 9, has entered its decisive phase with the quarterfinals starting today at the Arena and Rafa Nadal Academy, featuring some of the world’s top players.

The Round of 32 saw intense action in both the men’s and women’s categories. The world’s second-ranked men’s pair, Federico Chingotto and Alejandro Galán, advanced with a straight-sets victory over Francisco Morales and Miguel Lambert. Enrique Gionaga and Luis Queisada also progressed, defeating Javier Barahona and Javier García 2-1 in sets, while the sixth-ranked duo, Paquito Navarro and Jon Sanz, reached the quarterfinals with an easy win over José Destro and Víctor Ruiz.

In the women’s draw, Tamara Clercisa and Marta Gallego moved into the Round of 16 after beating Italy’s Giorgia Marchetti and France’s Léa Godallier in straight sets. Martina Calvo and Alejandra Salazar also advanced, defeating Lara Arubarina and Juliette Pédahouria 2-0 in sets.

As part of the event’s activities, the Public Relations Committee of the Organizing Committee hosted a heritage tour for players, coaches, and staff at the historic Souq Al-Mubarakiya, highlighting Kuwait’s rich cultural legacy.
