KUWAIT CITY, Sept 9: Ministry of Education has disclosed about a comprehensive “alertness” in all six educational zones with the opening of all schools on Sunday, especially with the kickoff of the new academic year for high school students, reports Al- Rai daily.

Meanwhile, parliamentary sources say they are expecting an “earthquake” in the leadership positions of the ministry, which could lead to a radical change, on the background of the air-conditioning crisis in schools. They explained that the ministry’s apparatuses continued to work on the repair and maintenance of air-conditioners, but those who have been monitoring the situation are casting doubts on the adequacy of the “urgent” fund of KD 200,000 provided by Ministry of Finance to purchase air conditioning units, as this amount is enough only to cater for a quarter of the air-conditioning requirements.

Engineers from the educational sector revealed that the affected schools are many, especially in the three educational zones – Ahmadi, Mubarak Al-Kabeer and Hawally. The allocations for each of these units are very small. They warned about the crisis that will confront schools especially with the opening of high schools.

Parliamentary sources said changes will be seen with assistant undersecretaries, directors of educational zones and technical administrations. They are expecting the issuance of “corrective” decisions this week after the minister revealed about some information that was hidden from him.
