Ton of rotten food destroyed

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 10: The Illegal Structures Demolition Department at Kuwait Municipality carried out several surprise inspection campaigns in the Capital Governorate in September, resulting in the confiscation and disposal of one ton of expired food products, collection of KD 2,175 as fees for conciliation orders and checking 54 houses prior to the connection of electricity, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

In a press statement, Director of the Municipality branch in the governorate Eng Amar Al-Amar pointed out the campaigns were in line with the directives of the Capital and Mubarak Al-Kabeer Sector Chairman Eng Faisal Al-Junaa to ensure strict compliance with the regulations.

Meanwhile, Head of the Illegal Structures Demolition Department Eng Abdullah Jaber affirmed they are doing their best according to the instructions of Al-Amar in order to uncover violations and demolish all illegal structures.

He revealed 55 warnings were sent to those who committed violations as per ministerial decision number 206/ 2009. He added 54 houses were inspected for connecting electricity in addition to issuing two citations for violation of building regulations.

He said 150 citations were issued for food-related violations, 35 warnings were issued and 33 citation stickers pasted on abandoned cars. This is in addition to 12 stickers for demolition of illegal structures, 14 citations for violation of law number 9/1987, eight pledges related to public sanitation, five citations for violating public hygiene regulations, 128 advertisement violations, removal of 26 advertisements and demolition of two structures built on State properties.
