NEW YORK, Sept 22: Tom Holland suffered a mild concussion while filming his upcoming superhero film Spider-Man: Brand New Day on Friday, sources confirm. The actor is set to take a brief break from production as a precautionary measure, with plans to resume filming in a few days.

Sony, which is producing the movie alongside Marvel Studios, is expected to meet on Monday to discuss a revised plan moving forward. The incident did not result in any other injuries on set.

The production of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which began in Glasgow in early August, will continue despite the temporary halt. The film is slated for a theatrical release on July 31 next year.

Holland, who reprised his role as the iconic superhero, had previously shared excitement about returning to the Spider-Man suit for the first time since Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021). In a video released by Sony last month, the actor spoke about the unique experience of stepping back into the role, noting how different it felt this time around.

“It’s day one, my fourth ever day one on Spider-Man,” Holland said in the video. “It’s funny, putting the suit on, it feels different this time, somehow. It’s also the first time we ever had fans on set day one, so it’s really exciting to share this with them. We’ve got some familiar faces on set. I’m just going to do my best, hopefully get it right, no pressure.”

Familiar faces returning alongside Holland include Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, and a number of new additions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). These include Liza Colon-Zayas of The Bear, Severance star Tramell Tillman, and Stranger Things breakout Sadie Sink. Additionally, Mark Ruffalo will reprise his role as Bruce Banner (the Hulk), while Jon Bernthal returns as the Punisher and Michael Mando as the Scorpion, a character he portrayed in Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017).

As Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues its journey toward release, fans are eager to see what new adventures await the beloved superhero, despite this unexpected setback.
