LOS ANGELES, April 16: Award-winning actor Timothée Chalamet is set to portray legendary folk musician Bob Dylan in the upcoming biopic A Complete Unknown. The 28-year-old actor was recently spotted on set alongside his co-star Monica Barbaro at Echo Lake Park in New Jersey.
Chalamet will depict a young Dylan at the age of 19, capturing the musician’s rise to fame in the folk music scene and his eventual record deal with Columbia Records. Barbaro, 33, takes on the role of Dylan’s girlfriend Joan Baez, adding depth to the narrative.
During filming, the pair were photographed performing in character for a crowd, with Chalamet showcasing his singing skills into a microphone while Barbaro strummed on a guitar. Their authenticity in portraying the iconic figures was evident as they immersed themselves in the roles, dressed in period-appropriate attire.
Notably, Chalamet was also seen on set alongside co-star Elle Fanning, who portrays Dylan’s love interest Sylvie Russo. Their camaraderie and laughter outside in Paterson, New Jersey, added to the behind-the-scenes glimpse of the film’s production.
Directed by James Mangold, A Complete Unknown boasts an impressive ensemble cast, with Nick Offerman portraying Alan Lomax and Boyd Holbrook as Johnny Cash. Edward Norton steps into the role of folk singer Pete Seeger, following Benedict Cumberbatch’s departure due to scheduling conflicts.
