KUWAIT CITY, Jan 6: Police have arrested a Sri Lankan man allegedly wanted by law in a theft case which was filed by an Indian accusing an unidentified person of stealing KD100 and cellphone, reports Al-Rai daily.

A police patrol on routine duty suspected the Sri Lankan and on checking records, it was found that his car was used in a robbery crime.

For his luck, the Sri Lankan had earlier filed a complaint accusing unidentified person for stealing the number plates of his car.

Timely reporting of the theft of the numbers plate prevented the Sri Lankan from going to jail. If the Sri Lankan had ignored to report the theft of his number plates, he would have been charged with theft, referred for investigation and then to the Prosecution.

Police are looking for the suspect who might have stolen the numbers plate. The security source advised those who lose their car or one of its license plates to inform the security authorities immediately.
