NEW YORK, April 24: Apple revealed on Tuesday that it will be hosting a special event on May 7, sparking anticipation among tech enthusiasts. While the company typically keeps details under wraps, the invitation artwork strongly suggests that the event will center around the iPad, prominently featuring an Apple Pencil.
Adding to the speculation, Apple CEO Tim Cook hinted at the unveiling of at least a new Apple Pencil 3 during the event. In a post on X, Cook shared the event artwork with the caption "Pencil us in for May 7!" accompanied by a pencil emoji, further hinting at the impending launch of new iPads and potentially a new Apple Pencil.
The last generation of Apple Pencil was introduced back in 2018, with updates including a matte design, improved grip, a new double-tap gesture, and magnetic charging. Now, anticipation surrounds the features of the upcoming Apple Pencil 3.
Rumors suggest that the new Apple Pencil may integrate with Find My, allowing users to easily locate misplaced pens similar to AirPods and AirTags. Additionally, speculation hints at interchangeable magnetic tips and support for a "Squeeze" gesture, potentially enabling quick actions such as adding text or signatures.
Of course, alongside the anticipated Apple Pencil, the event is expected to unveil new iPad models. Reports indicate the introduction of both the iPad Air 6, featuring the M2 chip and a larger 12.9-inch screen variant for the first time, and the new iPad Pro with the M3 chip, OLED displays, and a sleeker design.
Furthermore, rumors suggest Apple has developed a redesigned Magic Keyboard, transitioning away from the current floating design to offer a more traditional laptop appearance for the iPad.
