KUWAIT CITY, April 4: Assistant Undersecretary for Citizenship and Passports Affairs at the Ministry of Interior Major-General Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarrah has disclosed three Saudi brothers have been arrested for illegally obtaining the Kuwaiti citizenship with the help of three Kuwaitis, reports Al-Rai daily.

The daily added, Al-Jarrah following investigations, ordered the brothers to be put under surveillance and then referred them to the Public Prosecution to determine how they got the citizenship.

The daily gave no more details. Meanwhile, the Forensics Department of the Ministry of Interior has formed a team of specialists to detect forgery in passports, if any, of people entering the country through air, sea and land ports, reports Al-Anba daily. A reliable source told the daily the teams has until now has discovered security lapses on part of the issuing authorities in the respective countries and the latter have been duly informed.

The team was formed with the aim of preventing the entry of suspect elements which can make use of these security lapses and enter the country, particularly members of the militant organizations such as the DAESH or the Al-Nusra Front.

The source pointed out, directives have been issued to officials at the entry and exit ports to detain any person suspected of holding such passports. The documents will then be sent to the concerned authority to ensure their authenticity. The holders of such passports will also be quizzed with the help of special devices. If it is proved the holder is carrying a forged passport, he/she will be deported even if no link to extremist groups is established.
