KUWAIT CITY, Mar 4: The Ministry of Information announced on Wednesday that individuals and outlets violating media regulations have been referred to the Public Prosecution. The Ministry urged all media professionals and social media users to act responsibly, professionally, and in the national interest.
In a press statement, the Ministry said it has been monitoring the spread of false news and rumors through certain media outlets and platforms, describing such activity as a violation of laws governing media work that misleads public opinion. “The necessary legal measures have been taken against the violators, and they have been referred to the Public Prosecution, the competent authority, to take appropriate action in accordance with the law,” the statement read.
The Ministry emphasized that freedom of opinion and expression is guaranteed under the law but must be exercised with professional responsibility, accuracy, credibility, and reliance on official sources. It called on all media institutions and social media users to prioritize the national interest to help maintain security and stability in the country.
