KUWAIT CITY, Jun 17: Authorities have opened a felony theft case following a burglary at an electrical substation in the Khaitan area, where thieves made off with electrical cables belonging to the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy.
According to security sources, the case was registered at Khaitan Police Station after an engineer from the ministry and a representative of the Security and Safety Department responsible for electrical transmission inspections reported the incident.
The complainant told police that unknown individuals broke into the Khaitan F electrical substation, located in Block 7 opposite a bank, and stole four electrical cables stored in the facility's basement. The stolen cables measured a total of 84 meters in length.
Following the report, the duty prosecutor was notified and ordered the registration of a felony theft case. Instructions were also issued to initiate the necessary legal procedures and refer the matter to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to identify and apprehend those responsible.
A team from the Forensic Evidence Department visited the scene to collect evidence and conduct a technical examination of the site. Meanwhile, CID investigators have begun reviewing surveillance footage from cameras in and around the area in an effort to trace the suspects and determine how the break-in was carried out.
Investigations are ongoing to identify the perpetrators and recover the stolen property.
