KUWAIT CITY, July 19: A group of unidentified burglars launched a calculated attempt to erase their trail after breaking into a commercial property in Farwaniya, destroying surveillance equipment and stealing security cameras — but one surviving camera may have exposed their identities.

The General Department of Criminal Investigation (CID), through the Farwaniya Investigation Unit, has opened an investigation to track down the suspects after they allegedly disabled the property's security system by smashing several cameras and cutting electrical wiring, apparently to prevent investigators from reviewing their movements.

A security source said the intruders stole seven surveillance cameras and their electrical cables after forcing their way into the building via an emergency exit. The suspects reportedly damaged parts of the surveillance network as they attempted to conceal evidence and avoid detection.

However, their plan suffered a setback when one camera remained operational and captured images of the individuals during the break-in. Investigators believe the footage could provide a crucial lead in identifying the suspects and bringing them to justice.

Following instructions from the Public Prosecution, teams from the General Department of Criminal Evidence were dispatched to the scene to collect fingerprints and other forensic evidence left behind by the perpetrators.

Authorities are still investigating whether the suspects targeted only the surveillance equipment or managed to steal additional valuables from inside the commercial property.

The incident came to light after the property management notified the Ministry of Interior’s operations room about the break-in. A review of the available footage later revealed that the remaining camera had recorded clear images of the suspects, giving investigators a potential breakthrough in the case.
