KUWAIT CITY, Aug 29: The General Department of Residence Affairs Investigations, under the Ministry of Interior, has arrested a Bedoun (Stateless) in Mahboula for harboring and employing domestic workers who had absconded from their sponsors.
The operation was triggered after investigators spotted photos of the absconding workers circulating on social media, which led them straight to the suspect’s apartment.
Inside, officers were stunned to find 10 workers crammed into the flat, all in blatant violation of Kuwait’s residency laws. The man admitted on the spot that he had been hiring them out on a daily wage basis and pocketing profits while the workers lived in hiding.
The Ministry of Interior confirmed that legal action is now underway, with the accused and all the workers referred to the authorities for prosecution.
