KUWAIT CITY, Dec 10: The Tempest by William Shakespeare, produced by Alison Shan Price MBE and adapted and directed by Hamad Al Jenaie was staged at the Yarmouk Cultural Centre on Dec 1, 2 and 3. After a drought of three years, theatre lovers in Kuwait were treated to a great rendition of The Tempest. The play was written circa 1611 and is considered one of William Shakespeare’s last few plays before he retired from the Theatre World. In this version, initially set in a modern school class, Professor Prospero, a teacher, has summoned the student Sam to read a passage from ‘The Tempest’.

As he begins to read the first scene, the class is suddenly transported into the story, to a fantastical world; an island of imagination of spirits, creatures and a sorcerer who guards the island. The cast included Nader Abdullah, Ahmed Awadhi, Sarah Al Khabbaz, Rayan Al Awadhi, Laila Al Qadhi, Hind Khazaal, Fahad Awadh, Brian McLaughlin, Yasir Bizaroo, (Seham Al Khahaab, Boris Mihyalov, Sarah Al Saleh, Azfar Mir, Susaana Miller, Salma Farghali, Nicholas Moesis-Shayan and Maya Hafez, Wadih Dahr), thought to be dead, falls in Luset Kuntaz, Lemogene D.Tucker and Kerem Hidmoglu. We would like to thank Dar Al Athar Islamiyyahh, the National Council of Arts and Letter and One World Actors Center for the amazing support and journey for the last two years with this production
