KUWAIT CITY, Oct 31: Chargé d’Affaires at the Embassy of the Kingdom of Thailand in Kuwait Oraiwan Korto underscored the importance of cultural exchange in strengthening relations between Kuwait and Thailand, as well as establishing communication and mutual understanding between the citizens of both countries. Speaking at a recent event, during which the Thai Embassy donated 100 books to Kuwait National Library, Korto disclosed that the project introduces readers in Kuwait to the heritage, culture and people of Thailand. She said books provide an opportunity to learn about the culture, history, traditions and lifestyle of others. She expressed hope that these books will serve as a bridge between the two nations and further strengthen their ties. She stated that the collection covers a diverse range of topics like

Thai culture, arts, literature and history, offering readers a glimpse of the heritage, society and narratives that shaped the cultural identity of Thailand. She revealed that the books were provided with the support of Thailand Foundation, a non-profit organization promoting friendship and engagement between Thailand and other nations. She added that the collection will be housed in the Diplomacy Hall, which is currently being developed by the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL) within the Kuwait National Library.

She indicated that friendship between nations is not built solely on intergovernmental relations, as it is also reinforced by the understanding between peoples—an understanding that begins with learning about the history, culture, traditions and way of life of others. She pointed out that the project being implemented this year is meaningful, because it coincides with the 63rd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Kuwait and Thailand in 1963. She added that in the last six decades, the two nations have built a solid friendship rooted in trust, respect and mutual understanding. On the other hand, acting Assistant Secretary General for the Antiquities and Museums Sector at NCCAL Mohammad bin Redha said the initiative of the Kingdom of Thailand to donate a collection of books to Kuwait National Library is a valuable intellectual and cultural contribution, as it offers library patrons the opportunity to learn about Thailand’s history, literature, arts and rich cultural heritage.
