Thai Merchant Vessel Attacked Near Musandam, 20 Crew Evacuated by Omani Navy

MUSCAT, Mar 11: The Royal Navy of Oman successfully evacuated 20 crew members after the Thai-flagged merchant vessel MAYUREE NAREE came under attack 13 nautical miles northeast of Musandam Governorate, the Omani government confirmed.

A statement from the Government Communication Office said the attack caused a fire in the vessel’s main engine room, prompting immediate rescue action. The crew members, all Thai nationals, sustained varying degrees of injuries.

The Royal Navy’s prompt intervention ensured the safe evacuation of all personnel and prevented further escalation of the incident. Authorities are investigating the attack and coordinating with relevant international maritime agencies to determine the cause.
